Maoist with ₹5 lakh reward on head surrenders in Jharkhand’s Latehar

“Two Maoists, a sub-district commander carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh and a district commander from Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), surrendered before the police in Latehar district of Jharkhand on Wednesday, November 12, 2025,” police officials said.
The duo was identified as sub-district commander Brajesh Yadav (alias Rakesh Ji) from Gumla district and district commander Awdhesh Lohra (alias Rohit Lohra) from Latehar district.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Gaurav said, “Two active Maoists from JJMP surrendered today. There are ten cases pending against Brajesh Yadav. He was working as a sub-district commander carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh.”
He said that Awdhesh Lohra from Latehar’s Herhanj district also surrendered. A total of five cases are pending against him.

“Both of them surrendered before us under the aegis of the State Government’s ‘Nai Disha’ policy’ initiative. All benefits under this policy are being given to their families,” Mr. Gaurav said.
Meanwhile, Palamu district Inspector General (IG) Shailendra Kumar Sinha said, “This is a major achievement for the Latehar police. The surrender of the two extremists is a result of the joint efforts of the police and the public.”
