Kerala for All: Final day of conclave to deliberate on shaping the future of Kerala tourism

Second day of ‘Kerala for All’, a two-day information meeting on inclusive and accessible tourism jointly organized by Kerala Tourism and Türkiye HinduIt is structured around governance, corporate direction, innovation and sector-wide implementation. Building on conceptual and design-led discussions on the opening day, the second day brings together policymakers, managers, practitioners and industry leaders to identify ways to embed inclusive thinking into the future of Kerala’s tourism landscape.

The opening session will set the policy tone for the day and signal the State’s intention to move from dialogue to long-term structural change.

The first session, titled ‘Vision of Kerala for All: Shaping the Future of Kerala Tourism’, will bring together Suman Billa, IAS, Additional Secretary and Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and K. Biju, Secretary Tourism of Kerala.

The session, titled ‘Looking at Travel Differently: Navigating the World Without Seeing’, will focus on the perspectives of visually impaired travelers and highlight challenges related to wayfinding, accessing information and public infrastructure.

The wider social dimensions of tourism will be explored in ‘Gender Inclusion at the Heart of Tourism’, which brings together voices from government, international organizations and design practices.

A presentation on ‘Inclusive Tourism through the Eyes of Neurodiversity’ will examine how tourism environments, from hotels to public spaces, can be overwhelming or exclusionary, and outline approaches to designing more adaptive and responsive systems.

The session, ‘International Agenda: How Leading Countries Have Built Accessible Tourism Circuits’, will draw on global case studies to examine how accessibility is being integrated into destination planning elsewhere.

Technology and innovation will be at the center of ‘Digital and Technological Innovation in Inclusive and Accessible Tourism’.

The session ‘Accessible Hospitality: Rethinking Hotels, Resorts and Public Spaces’ will bring together hospitality leaders and practitioners to examine how inclusive principles can be translated into design, operations and guest experience.

Together, the sessions aim to unify the conclave’s deliberations into a forward-looking framework.
