Distraught family of girl, 6, thanks ‘special angel’ after fatal collision | UK | News

The family of a six-year-old child who died in a minibus collision paid tribute to the woman who helped take the girl to the hospital. Kourtney McCormick died following a collision in the Springfarm Heights area of Newry, Northern Ireland, on Sunday, June 21.
The little boy was taken to the hospital and later died due to his injuries. The arrested 40-year-old woman was released on bail so police could investigate further. In the tribute shared by Paul McEvoy Funeral Directors, Kourtney’s family said: “The family of little Kourtney McCormick would like to express our deepest gratitude. We are deeply touched by the support and love we have received following the passing of our sweet little girl Kourtney.”
“Thank you to the lady who arrived on scene and helped us take our little girl directly to the Daisy Hill Emergency Department. “You are our special angel; We are deeply grateful to you.
“We are deeply grateful to all the doctors and medical staff at Daisy Hill Hospital who worked so hard to keep our Kourtney alive, as well as the beautiful guard of honor they gave in the room as Kourtney was wheeled out for admission to the Royal Victoria Hospital.
“We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the surgeons and medical staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital Intensive Care Department for all their efforts to save Kourtney’s life. We will be forever grateful for giving us the chance to hold our baby and say goodbye to her.”
The family also added that they are very grateful for the help and support of PSNI officers and the priest who supported them both at Daisy Hill and the Royal Victoria Hospital for their continued support.
“Words cannot express enough our heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support our family has received from Kourtney elementary school, St. Patrick’s the Meadow, our entire community, and around the world,” they said.
The touching message also paid tribute to Kourtney’s “beautiful little friends”, the family’s neighbours, friends and family, as well as local businesses who provided food for the girl’s funeral.
Kourtney’s Months Mind Mass will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30pm in St. It will be held at Brigid’s Chapel, Newry, Belfast Live reports.
