Max Dowman: Arsenal winger, 15, becomes youngest Champions League player

Dowman has been training with Arsenal’s first team squad since the age of 14 and will join the first team at the Dubai warm weather camp in January 2024.

Fans were calling for the Englishman to get his chance in the second half of last season as Arteta was left without attacking options following the injuries of several key players.

Dowman is no stranger to breaking records, having become the youngest player to score at the Under-17 European Championship while representing England in May.

Last month, he also became the youngest goalscorer of the England Under-19 National Team.

So it is no surprise that he has emerged as part of Arteta’s plans as Arsenal compete for success on four fronts.

Having such a promising player in top-flight football means Arsenal are taking measures to both progress and protect his career.

These include where to substitute, a strong focus on his training, as well as ensuring a child is well supported by his teammates in an adult team environment.

Arteta and the club have been cautious about how to manage Dowman moving forward.

After making his debut in the 5-0 win against Leeds on August 23, Arteta said they gathered information on how he reacted to certain situations, such as being on the bench, training with the first team or not being in the squad.
