Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati, in her statement on Saturday, July 12, 2026, alleged that the Opposition parties are trying to mislead and mislead Dalits and other sections of the Bahujan society in various ways by citing some Dalit organizations and misleading the public through false promises, allegations and fake propaganda.
Ms. Mayawati termed the demonstration and road blockade as political and electoral fraud. “As it is known, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), unlike other parties, does not believe in demonstrations, road blockade, mayhem, vandalism and other acts of violence on government and private properties and misleading the public through false promises, claims and false propaganda etc. to achieve political and electoral interests. BSP is the only Ambedkarite party in the country that is completely free from all such political and electoral frauds and is committed to the welfare and prosperity of the entire people. Ms. Mayawati said In
The BSP chief further added: “Apart from providing an ideal constitutional government in a vast state like UP, it is also very clear that unlike the opposition parties and the Dalit organizations and parties working at their behest, the BSP does not indulge in the politics of trickery and fraud, does not shed crocodile tears for them, does not change its color like a chameleon for narrow selfish interests. Rather, it is for the genuine interest and welfare of a large number of Dalits, tribals, backward classes, Muslims and others. In the upper caste society as well as religious minorities.” for the poor too, by following the path shown by the great saints, gurus and great men born from time to time in the ‘Bahujan Samaj, especially Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Shri Narayana Guru, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj, the most revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao, primarily through the master key of power Ambedkar and the Bahujan leader Venerable Shri Kanshi Ram.”
Ms. Mayawati alleged that with elections approaching, opposition parties want to advance their political interests by using tactics by putting weapons on the shoulders of Dalit organizations and slave-minded people and opposing the BSP and Baba Saheb movement.
“Therefore, people from all walks of life, especially Dalits and those from the ‘Bahujan Samaj’, need to be extremely vigilant and vigilant to ensure that the evil intentions of the dissidents do not succeed,” he warned, adding that the BSP’s real concern in this regard is the welfare of the poor, laborers, unemployed youth, etc. He added that the exploited, oppressed and other neglected people of society should not become victims of government hatred, oppression and terror. They took to the streets to voice their problems.
Ms. Mayawati’s comment came in the wake of the murder of 20-year-old Lalita Gautam, a final year undergraduate student. Days later, his body was found in a sugarcane field in Rohta district of Meerut district. Police arrested Ankush, the alleged boyfriend of the victim, in connection with the murder. He was later released on bail. Dalit groups and the victim’s family protested in front of the Collectorate on July 8 and 9, demanding a renewal of the investigation, alleging that more accused were involved in the case. This demonstration escalated into clashes between protesters and law enforcement. Police dispersed the meeting using lathi charge and detained seven persons and registered a case against around 50 unidentified persons for unlawful assembly and assaulting police personnel, among other charges in connection with the protest. Nagina MP and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) president Chandra Shekhar Aazad and the Congress delegation attempted to meet the family of the deceased and the victims of police action. Ms. Mayawati’s comment is incidental.
The Congress party hit back and added that the BSP chief had read the playbook of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and weakened the Bahujan and marginal cause.
“The BSP leader seems to be learning lessons from the feudal forces. In every democratic framework, people have the right to protest openly to voice their concerns. It is well known that atrocities against marginal sections in Uttar Pradesh reached its peak during the BJP government; people from marginal sections have to take to the streets for justice. Calling this wrong is unreasonable and shows an anti-people mentality. The Congress will continue its fight for justice against any injustice against any group of society and people.” said Congress National Secretary Shahnawaz Alam.
