Meghan Markle branded a ‘terrorist’ as she’s torn apart on SNL over King’s US visit | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

King III. Charles and his bride, Meghan Markle, were subjected to a cruel prank on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live following the monarch’s latest visit to the US. The King’s historic visit to meet President Donald Trump and Queen Camilla was mocked during the show and Meghan was branded a “terrorist” in the controversial episode. Host Michael Che commented on Charles’ meeting with New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani: “I’m surprised he didn’t take Mamdani with him to England because she’s an Indian treasure.” He was referring to the mayor’s previous comments in which he called on the King to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond seized by the British East India Company.
Colin Jost later said Charles’ visit was an excuse to “secure the release of a British hostage held by an American terrorist” and was clearly referring to Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan when a picture of the couple appeared on screen.
The presenters also joked about Trump’s relationship with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on the installation.
The jokes about Charles come just days after his four-day trip to the United States to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Trump hailed Charles as “the greatest king in my book” as he bid farewell to the monarch as the state visit drew to a close.
As Charles and Camilla were led away, Trump told the press: “They are truly wonderful people. We need more people like this in our country.”
Following the trip, a royal aide told the BBC: “This is not a competition between the King and the government.
“The King is there to support the government, to help the government. He made this visit, of course, at the request of the government.”
A YouGov poll published on Saturday suggested the British public was impressed by the King’s performance in the US. A total of 4,5000 people participated in the survey.
