Meghan Markle has been slammed by critics online following her latest announcement. Meghan got some good news this week when she learned that the Netflix series had been nominated for an Emmy Award. With love, Meghan was nominated for the Outstanding Lifestyle Programme. The show has received mixed reviews, with some fans enjoying the series for its recipe and craft content, as well as tidbits of insight into Meghan’s California life.
As one of the most talked-about celebrities on the planet, Meghan’s Emmy nomination would spark criticism and backlash from some royal fans. While many of the former working royal’s friends and family shared congratulatory messages for Meghan, some social media users condemned the series and its Emmy award. In fact, one US politician went so far as to say that the Emmy nominations were “rigged”.
Meghan took to Instagram to announce the news. “Huge congratulations to the amazing team, producers and crew working on ‘With Love, Meghan’ at @netflix,” she wrote on Instagram.
As expected, the series received many negative comments as a result of the nomination. “He wasted no time bragging about his Daytime Emmy nomination for his embarrassing, critically panned flop.”
Another said: “You know…obviously worthless Emmy that you can appeal to on your own. This misconception runs deep on Meghan.”
The show received mixed reviews. It has only a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Still, it’s a bit puzzling, given how polarizing MM has been and how the show’s ongoing viewing ratings have been completely lackluster.”
He added: “The show’s really poor commercial pull and extremely low ongoing viewership due to lack of audience interest does not warrant such an award, but it will no doubt attract the aforementioned media attention.”
There is currently no evidence of impropriety in the Emmy nomination process. The Daily Express has approached Emmy for comment.
Meghan’s show guest-starred Mindy Kaling, Tan France and Chrissy Teigen for two seasons, and its episodes focused on gardening, cooking and other lifestyle topics.
