Much of the UK will face a rainy end to the weekend, with Met Offie’s weather maps showing at least 35 areas flooded.
Forecast maps at around 1pm on Sunday show a broad band of rain stretching from south-west England to Wales, north-west England, Northern Ireland and much of Scotland.
The strongest eruptions appear to be focused on parts of north-east Scotland, including the Aberdeen area, which has seen heavier rainfall.
Much of the Highlands, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland are also seen in persistent rain.
Further south, wet weather is expected along the Scottish Borders with Glasgow, Argyll and Bute, Dumfries and Galloway, and then extending into Northern Ireland where all six counties are expected to see rain.
The system is then seen moving towards north-west England, affecting Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Northumberland, with County Durham and parts of western North Yorkshire also at risk of showers.
Rain is expected across Wales for Gwynedd, Conwy, Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire, while south-west England, including Devon and Cornwall, is also expected to receive rain.
In contrast, much of southern and eastern England, including London and the Home Counties, looks set to remain largely dry at this stage, although some scattered showers are possible across parts of eastern England and the North Sea coast.
The forecast suggests that many western and northern areas could receive a few hours of rain into Sunday afternoon, with some places likely to see heavier rain than others as the weather system moves eastward.
Residents of affected areas should monitor the latest local forecasts as rainfall intensity and timing may vary.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri said: “After a long period of hot, dry and calm weather, some will see a temporary change as weather fronts move south-eastwards across the UK this weekend.
“While some areas, particularly the north and west, will see rain and showers, many places are likely to receive relatively little rainfall. Dry conditions are expected to remain the dominant feature for much of southern England, with temperatures picking up rapidly over the next week and the potential for very warm or locally hot weather to return.”
