Before the XI starts for Matildas tonight, starting from the team, starting from behind, goalkeepers Teagan Micah (today excluded with shaking before) and Mackenzie Arnold, Defenders Kennedy, Ellie Carpenter, Wini Heatley and Step Catley, mid. Yallop and Alex Chidiac, plus Caitlin Foord, Mary Fowler, Cortnee Vine, Sharn and Lini Freier, Kaitlin Torpey, Emily Gielnik… And of course, Sam Kerr, who has the capacity to be educated with the team.

This is 19 players. The last time I checked, only 23 were allowed in a squad for the Asian Cup. And most of these names seem to be either nailed certainty or this tournament.

So keep this in mind while looking at the team tonight: Eight changes were made from the game on Saturday, including a start for Charli Grant and Amy Sayer, and a goalkeeper Chloe Lincoln. Apparently, Michelle Heyman and Remy Siemsen will be in the form of two output strikers.
