Model Tess Holliday calls system ‘fatphobic’ after alleged life insurance denial

Model Tess Holliday claimed on Wednesday that she was denied life insurance coverage because of her weight.
“I’m sorry. Yes, I I did As a 40-year-old person who does not smoke, does not drink alcohol, has no health problems, and is a human being, I think I can get life insurance. Honestly, it was my fault,” he said sarcastically in a TikTok video.
“Am I 5 feet 10 inches tall and weigh over 300 lbs?” he continued. “And apparently that doesn’t make me eligible for life insurance. Yes, it does.”
He added that he does sports every day, has no illnesses and does not use any medication.

The plus-size model has called the “medical industrial complex” “anti-fat”, claiming the “system is broken”.
“It’s my fault and it’s my fault,” he added sarcastically. “And honestly, it won’t happen again. Lesson learned.”
“Aww you were a jerk to me man,” he wrote in the caption of his post, adding to one commenter that he was “shaken” by the incident.
“But I also understand that the medical industrial complex is fat-phobic and that the system is inherently broken.”

Last week, Holliday posed in a green bikini with the word “fat” written on it, and her video had a caption that read, “POV: you lost weight but you never made it your personality.”
She added a separate caption to the video: “Imagine calling self-acceptance toxic. Can’t be me.”

Last fall, the model said she fell into a “state of shock” after a flight attendant suggested she lose weight.
The 40-year-old actor said he was flying first class on United from Tampa, Florida, with his 9-year-old son when he got up to use the plane’s restroom.

“I was in the restroom and my hip hit the flight attendant call button,” she said. people magazine. “When I came out of the bathroom, the flight attendant started telling me that they noticed I was traveling with my child and that it would be in my best interest to lose weight.”

“She said her sister also needed to lose weight and the long-term impact it has on our bodies is not good for our health,” she said. “This lasted about 10 minutes and I think I froze. I didn’t want to make a scene because my son was flying with me, but I was also in a state of shock.”
In the video, the flight attendant said someone complained to United about her sister’s weight, and United reached out to her and said things about her sister that “made her uncomfortable,” but she also “agreed that she needed to lose weight.”

“He then told me that I was kidding myself if I didn’t think I needed to lose weight because of my height,” she said.
Holliday said she knows people who hear her story might think she’s just trying to help.

“That’s not the point,” he emphasized. “You don’t say things like that to people. He said a lot of other things. The conversation went on for too long. Luckily I was exempt from the conversation when another passenger approached me to use the toilet.”
In his comment after the video, Holliday said, “They said he spoke to United and they would pass this on to the team members and talk about it. I told them I don’t want anyone to lose their job. I just want them to be aware and maybe do some sensitivity training so it doesn’t happen again.”
