Moldova’s election result bolsters move towards EU and away from Moscow | Moldova

Moldova’s pro -European ruling party continued its majority of parliament after the important elections of Sunday and strengthened the attempt of 2.4 million countries to the EU and Moscow.
While more than 99.9% of the ballots were counted, President Maia Sandu had 50.03% of the votes of the pro -Western Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and set out to win 55 of the 101 chairs in parliament. According to the results published on the Election Commission’s website, compared to 24.26% for the Moscow-prone alliance of Soviet-Nostalgic parties led by former President Igor Dodon.
Sandu’s pass party has performed better than pre-election surveys that will remain the largest party, but the risk of losing its majority-this is a result that can prevent the pressure of surrendering EU membership in ten years.
The result shows an important victory for the Sandu, who initiated the presidency of a pro -European course and accused Russia, accusing unseen tactics of unseen tactics to shake voters in the poor country between Ukraine and Romania.
In Moldova, the passion leader Igor Gozu and Sandu are expected to take part in a close ally between the President and a prime minister appointed by Parliament.
The results will be met with a comfortable breath in Brussels and other European capitals, fear that Moscow can gain a basis in a strategically vital area while accelerating the hybrid campaign on the continent.
The European Commission President Ursula von wrote to X: “Moldova, you have done it again. Attempt to add fear or division cannot break your decision.”
“You have clarified your choice: Europe. Democracy. Freedom. Our door is open. And we will stand with you every step of the road.”
Although the election of Sunday is a great support for those who UMANCLA Moldova’s joining the EU, the path of membership remains uncertain. The country still needs to go through a series of reforms and take over the unresolved issue of Transnistri, a separation zone where 1,500 Russian soldiers are deployed.
Other European leaders hit a similar greeting tone. French President Emmanuel Macron X wrote: “Despite the intervention and pressure attempts, the choice of the people of the Republic of Moldova put forward itself.
“France stands in the European project of Moldova and the momentum of freedom and sovereignty.”
This year’s parliament campaign remained in the shadow with allegations of Russian intervention. Moldova officials accuse Moscow of turning billions of dollars of turning to pro -Russian parties, plans to buy votes, and propaganda campaigns aimed at stopping anti -Western feelings.
The two pro -Russian parties were banned from the elections on Friday to finance irregularities, an angry of the opposition and attracted a sharp criticism from Moscow.
On Sunday, the voting stations were closed after a turbulent day, including attempts to break the votes, including cyber attacks on the election systems and fake bomb threats in polls abroad.
Sandu’s national adviser Stanislav Secriieru wrote that Moldovans voted under the great pressure of Russia and his deputies ”.
After the bulletin promotion
Secrieru, Brussels, Rome and US vote stations were called for bomb threats, he said. Moldova’s ties with Europe, which tended to reclaim the closer ties of the voting papers of the large diaspora’s vote was expected to play a decisive role.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin accused Moldova by providing only three polling stations in Europe and the United States for the voting rights of its citizens in Russia.
Dodon, who chaired the patriotic block against Sandu’s pro -European course, rejected the results by saying that his allies had documented and compiled evidence. He called on opposition parties to participate in a peaceful protest outside the Parliament on September 29th.
Moscow constantly rejected the allegations of intervention in Moldova, labeling them as “anti -Russian” and “unfounded”. However, the result will come as a decline for the Kremlin, which Moldova officials say they have invested an unprecedented time and resources to support pro -Russian parties.
A Western Intelligence official told Guardian in recent months that Moscow has made Moldova a “key foreign policy priority after Ukraine ve and said that the Kremlin took Moldova a more aggressive strategy in the early this year.
Since the Soviet Union gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Moldova has been released between Brussels and closer ties and adherence to Moscow and Soviet period relations.
Sandu is an official of a former World Bank official elected as president on the wave of anti -corruption in 2020. Last October, the government supervised a referendum that Moldovans had a narrow vote to hide the EU membership as a constitutional target. On the same day, the suspect was re -elected as the President for a four -year period.
Now he hopes to cope with the economy, the main fragility of his administration. Inflation stubbornly high, does not show signs of slowing migration and indicates that GDP growth is modest.
Supporters claim that these problems are largely caused by external shocks, Russia’s war in Ukraine disrupts trade routes of trade, triggers an energy crisis and forces Moldova to buy tens of thousands of refugees.
