Moment genius forklift driver removes SUV from gates with ‘no parking’ sign so delivery lorry can get through

This is the moment a genius forklift driver picked up and moved an SUV left in front of the entrance of a delivery truck with a sign saying ‘no parking’.

The gray Volkswagen Tiguan appeared to be stopped in a no-parking zone, preventing the truck from making a delivery to a haulier’s yard in Birmingham.

The footage shows the driver moving the vehicle from outside InterFreight Worldwide and placing it safely down the road, allowing the truck to return to the yard to drop off its deliveries.

The footage shows the car parked in front of black gates marked ‘No Parking’, but it is unclear whether the SUV was parked in a marked loading bay or on double yellow lines.

Ahmed Hussain, who recorded the incident, saw the forklift lift the vehicle while waiting for the customer.

Mr Hussain, 28, said: ‘I believe the forklift belongs to the company which is awaiting delivery from the truck as you can see in the clip.

The footage shows the forklift operator picking up the vehicle from the pavement outside shipping and packaging company InterFreight Worldwide and placing it safely down the road.

‘When I got there the car was parked there so I could tell it had been there since the early hours of the morning. ‘The truck was delivering food or clothing to local stores.’

Mr Hussain, who works in vehicle detailing at Haven Autocare, said he saw the owner return.

‘The owner hadn’t been back for a while,’ he said. ‘It wasn’t obstructing my work, but it was parked in an area where there was no parking.’

Birmingham City Council issues penalty notices of varying amounts for breaches of parking regulations on public roads.

Lower-level fines start at £50, dropping to £25 if paid within 14 days, while higher-level fines start at £70, dropping to £35 if paid within a fortnight.

However, higher fines can be up to £100 for serious issues such as pavement parking or bus lane misuse.
