Moment Harry and Meghan’s UK visit ‘fell down around their ears’ | Royal | News

Prince Harry will visit England this week, but it has been revealed that he will not take his wife Meghan Markle and their children, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, to London. This is believed to be due to discussions about security regulations. Earlier today, Buckingham Palace said Harry would not be staying in the building, despite his team announcing this morning that he had accepted the invitation.
Before this latest drama, The Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential Editor-in-Chief Alison Boshoff was quoted as saying in an article published on July 2: He asked the Sussex camp for an update on his story about trip arrangements and to offer them the right of reply. They didn’t get back to him. But Ms. Boshoff said they issued an operational memo the next day to their “favorite reporters” “to tell them exactly what happened on each day of the visit.”
He added: “The trouble was, the next day the wheels came off. They started giving guidance, saying: ‘Oh, Harry now thinks he might never come.’
“It all fell on their ears in an uneducational, chaotic and misinformed way.”
A spokesman for Prince Harry said on July 6: “I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the Duke did not accept the offer of accommodation at the royal residence.
“Following RAVEC’s decision not to ensure the safety of his family, the Duke has spent the past week making alternative security arrangements.
“Once these arrangements were made, he was able to formally accept an offer of weekend accommodation for himself.”
They added: “It is therefore disappointing that the proposal has been withdrawn, citing Tuesday’s decision in the Associated Newspapers Limited case.
“However, Buckingham Palace has been aware of this decision since last Thursday, so it is unclear why it withdrew at the last minute after formally accepting the offer of accommodation.”
The PA reported that the Palace was told that its decision was made in consultation with the King and that the outcome was communicated to Harry through the appropriate channels.
It is understood Harry and his family will be provided with accommodation at the royal residence for future visits.
