Monaco parcel bomb suspect found dead in Ukraine

Ukraine’s security service (SBU) said the woman suspected of carrying out the package bombing in Monaco that injured a sanctioned Ukrainian multimillionaire and his family was found dead.

A cross-border manhunt had been launched for Ukrainian woman Anastasiia Berezovska, who authorities believe fled the wealthy city-state after planting a bomb in the entrance hall of an apartment building on June 29.

According to the SBU, the body of the 39-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Two people, including a current officer in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) He was detained on suspicion of murder.

Investigators believe that before her death, Berezovska was held in a basement of a house in the Kiev region that “resembled a torture chamber.”

Berezovska arrived in Ukraine two days after the July 1 attack, the SBU said in a statement, citing law enforcement sources.

The two men were investigated as possible accomplices in the Monaco attack, based on information that they had repeatedly transferred money to Berezovska’s “crypto and bank accounts”.

The agency said the intelligence officer later confessed to Berezovska’s murder and said he had done it “with another suspect.”

He said the basement room was found during a search of the former law enforcement officer’s home.

“Both suspects were detained on suspicion of premeditated murder by a group of people.”

The investigation continues with the “personal assistance” of the head of the intelligence directorate, Oleg Ivashchenko.
