EU Criticizes Israel’s Death Penalty Law, Calling it ‘Clear Step Backward’

Brussels: The European Union on Tuesday condemned Israel’s approval of a “discriminatory” bill allowing the execution of Palestinians convicted on terrorism charges for deadly attacks.

“The Israeli death penalty bill worries us very much in the EU. This is a clear step backwards with the introduction of the death penalty combined with the discriminatory nature of the law,” EU spokesman Anouar El Anouni told reporters in Brussels.
