Guest in critical condition after near-drowning at Cave of Waves
A guest at a Gold Coast theme park was taken to hospital after nearly drowning.
Emergency services were called to Dreamworld’s sister park, WhiteWater World in Coomera, shortly after 2pm on Friday.
Paramedics treated a patient for injuries sustained from water inhalation before transporting him to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The guest was pulled from the water at the Cave of Waves attraction, a 50-foot-long wave pool that runs along the southwestern edge of the park.
In the statement made by the theme park, it was stated that they continue to work with emergency services when necessary.
“Our highly trained lifeguards responded immediately and the Queensland Ambulance Service immediately responded to the scene,” the statement said.
“The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is our top priority.”
A spokesperson for WhiteWater World confirmed the park had returned to normal operations following the departure of emergency services.
