West Bromwich Albion: Championship club docked two points for breaking EFL finance rules

Championship club West Bromwich Albion have been penalized two points by the English Football League for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

The Baggies were accused of exceeding the £39 million loss limit for the three seasons to 2024-25, but the club denied the allegations.

But during the two-day hearing an independent club financial review panel found Albion’s losses “exceeded the upper loss threshold” and recommended a two-point penalty.

This leaves Albion in 20th place, six points above the relegation zone with two games to play.

West Brom have two weeks to appeal against the cut and if they do so a decision on that appeal will not be made for until 28 days.
