Mother and daughter injured in alleged hit-and-run by stolen car on Gold Coast

A mother and her daughter, who were allegedly run over by a stolen car at a pedestrian crossing on the Gold Coast, are recovering.
Police quickly caught the driver and are investigating whether he was drunk while behind the wheel.
The couple stepped onto the pedestrian crossing at Mermaid Beach at 9am today, unaware of the danger ahead.
A silver Mazda ran a red light without warning and plowed into two men, aged 23 and 57.
The footage is too contradictory to show, but the two women ended up in the middle of the intersection.
The chatter coming from the cafe across the road was soon silenced by the sound of screeching tires and explosions.
Allegedly, while the driver ran away, strangers rushed to help.
The car was allegedly stolen from Woolloongabba in Brisbane yesterday.
The 57-year-old man had injuries to his arm and back, while the 23-year-old suffered injuries to his pelvis.
Both were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Police quickly caught up with the driver and followed the 32-year-old man into the Pacific Fair parking lot.
He was arrested and taken to the hospital for drug and alcohol testing.
