MP Dan Norris arrested on suspicion of further rape and sexual assault offences

A man identified as MP Dan Norris has been arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, voyeurism and upskirting.
The independent MP was suspended by Labor and the House of Commons whip was removed last year after he was arrested on suspicion of historic child sex offences.
Independent It is understood Mr Norris, 66, was arrested again on suspicion of raping a second woman, sexually assaulting a third woman, as well as voyeurism and upskirting against a number of women.
The BBC reported that in a statement after his initial arrest, Mr Norris said he continued to “represent” his constituents and was also “involved in local and national developments” and “engaged in case studies and policy inquiries and asked parliamentary questions”.
Independent He approached Mr Norris for comment.
Avon and Somerset Police began investigating a man in his sixties in December 2024.
He was first arrested in April 2025 on suspicion of sexual offenses against a girl, rape, child abduction and misconduct in public office.
On Monday, police announced that the man was arrested again on suspicion of raping a second woman, sexually assaulting a third woman, and voyeurism and upskirting against some women.

All the crimes allegedly took place between the 2000s and 2020s.
Police said they were no longer actively investigating any sexual crimes against children, but the original investigation of rape and misconduct in a public office was ongoing.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Investigations into sexual offenses are sensitive and complex and as a result investigations can take a significant amount of time to complete.
“We are keeping victims informed of any developments and will continue to provide them with access to any support they may need.”
The man, whose name the police did not officially disclose, was released on conditional bail and did not resign from his seat as a member of parliament.
Mr Norris was elected MP for North East Somerset and Hanham in the 2024 general election, beating well-known Conservative former cabinet minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg.
He was also the directly elected mayor of the West of England from 2021 to 2025, resigning after being elected to parliament.
Mr Norris previously sat in parliament from 1997 to 2010 and represented the Wansdyke constituency, which covers most of the seat in which he now sits.
He was deputy minister under Gordon Brown and deputy under Sir Tony Blair.
Following his initial arrest, he resigned as chairman of the animal welfare charity the League Against Cruel Sports.
