Mukund Krishna: Police Federation boss suspended following arrest on suspicion of corruption

The chief executive of the Police Federation of England and Wales has been suspended from office following his arrest on suspicion of corruption.
It comes after a man understood to be Mukund Krishna, the federation’s chief executive, was detained by the City of London Police on Wednesday along with two other suspects with links to the organisation.
The Federation said in a statement on Monday: “Police Federation CEO Mukund Krishna has been suspended from his duties due to an ongoing police investigation.”
The Federation represents more than 145,000 police officers and special constables up to the rank of chief inspector.
City of London Police previously said its local corruption unit was investigating allegations of fraud by abuse of power involving the federation last year.
Officers executed search warrants in Wales, Somerset, London and Surrey.
Detective Superintendent James Halkett said: “The City of London Police’s domestic corruption unit is conducting a criminal investigation into allegations of fraud against three individuals associated with the National Police Federation of England and Wales.
“A 46-year-old man from Surrey, a 51-year-old man from Wales and a 55-year-old man from Bristol were arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of office.
“This is a complex and active investigation where we are pursuing all lines of inquiry.”
Last week a federation spokesman said: “We are aware of the arrest of three people linked to the Police Federation as part of an ongoing police investigation.
“This is a live issue and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.
“The organization is working in full cooperation with the relevant authorities.
“Our focus remains on continuing the work of the federation and representing our members in England and Wales.”
