According to ANI visuals, following heavy rains on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, various parts of Mumbai experienced severe waterlogging and normal life was disrupted in some areas.
Palghar schools closed
Following the IMD’s red alert for Palghar district, authorities ordered the closure of all schools as a precautionary measure. Heavy rain continued to lash Vasai-Virar and various parts of Palghar, IANS reported early on Thursday.
Do Mumbai local trains run?
Amid heavy rain and waterlogging, commuters have expressed concerns over the functioning of Mumbai’s suburban rail network.
However, Central Railway’s Mumbai Division, in its monsoon update at 6 am on July 2, said that all major suburban routes were operating normally despite adverse weather conditions.

The railway said the IMD had predicted heavy to very heavy rains in isolated places but there was no disruption in services in the three suburban corridors as of the last update.
