Mumfluencer backlash at Jamie Laing for ‘insensitive’ post about ‘superwoman’ Sophie Habboo and how she ‘created a magical Christmas’

Jamie Laing has been slammed by ‘mum influencers’ on Instagram for an ‘insensitive’ Christmas post that sets ‘unrealistic expectations’ for new mums.
The Made In Chelsea icon, 37, and his podcaster wife Sophie Habboo, 31, welcomed a baby boy named Ziggy earlier this month.
On Friday, Jamie took to Instagram to praise his wife. creating a ‘magical Christmas’ just three weeks after birth.
Sharing a sweet video of Sophie smiling next to the festive table, she wrote: ‘POV: your wife is in her 3rd week postpartum and still making a magical Christmas.’
But fans were quick to criticize the post for being insensitive and a ‘typical IG moment’ that only showed off the best parts of the day.
They wrote: ‘This is lovely, but at the same time, let’s not normalize postpartum women being ‘superwomen’, it’s not normal.’;

On Friday, Jamie took to Instagram to praise his wife for creating a ‘magical Christmas’ just three weeks after giving birth.
‘I normally love your content but this is an insensitive post and puts unrealistic expectations/pressure on other new moms. ‘Not everyone has the money, resources and support to do this.’;
‘I think this is not normal and a typical IG moment. To me, this is unfortunately all about people-pleasing and not prioritizing healing and real connections.’;
‘My first Christmas, when I was 3 weeks old, I slept most of the day.’
Others questioned whether the couple received outside help from caterers or other paid professionals.
They added: ‘It’s getting better but be honest in your posts. You paid someone to do it and assigned a chef to do everything.’;
‘If you have a caterer (family member) who helps, please let them know. I’m not disparaging, but keep it real for those who don’t come close. Life isn’t a competition, but it can feel like one. I wish you all health and happiness on your journey with Ziggy.’
Others encouraged new mums not to compare themselves to Jamie and Sophie’s perfect Christmas picture.
They wrote: ‘Hello friends. If you’re in your 3rd week postpartum and still feeling like death is warming up. That’s okay too. You are also superwoman AND your body does A LOT. You got this.’;

But others quickly came to Jamie’s defence, writing: ‘Why is everyone so negative?’
‘This is deeply unrealistic and contributes to a problem that causes postpartum women suffering.’;
‘This should not be a priority at all and the suggestion or idea that it should be is part of the problem.
‘Let the girl rest and cuddle the baby, let her eat to her heart’s content so she can raise a physically and emotionally nourished human being.’
But others quickly came to Jamie’s defence, writing: ‘Why is everyone so negative? Jamie shows appreciation to his wife, who is obviously doing great 3 weeks after giving birth.
‘This doesn’t take anything away from any mother who doesn’t do these things.’;
‘It’s great to see you congratulate @jamielaing, it’s important that she feels appreciated as she does great work this time and she really fits the description of superwoman.’;
‘I’m sure Jamie is just showing his love and appreciation for his wife, he’s not here to insult other postpartum moms, it’s not that deep.’;
‘Wow, this is some crazy work! I hope he’s had plenty of support and help.’
