Murder investigation after teenager reported missing in Blaina

A murder investigation was launched after a body was found following the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl.

The discovery was made in the Duffryn Park area of ​​Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, at around 10.10pm on Monday.

Gwent Police said official identification had not yet been made, but the family of Lilly, who was reported missing, had been informed.

Police said there remains a police presence in the area and asked anyone with information to get in touch.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Steven Thomas said: “We understand this will cause distress and concern within our communities.

“We currently have a large police presence in the area as investigations continue to establish the circumstances of the death. “Our officers are here and available for you to speak to.

“We ask anyone with information to speak to us or contact us through normal channels.”
