Murder probe underway after death of ‘young’ woman in Leeds
Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after an unidentified woman, believed to be a teenager, was found unconscious on a street in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe at 5.55am on Saturday morning after reports a young woman was found unconscious.
The seriously injured woman was taken to hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police said four people – two 18-year-old women, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy – were arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of murder.
All four remain in police custody and the crime scene is on standby as officers continue their investigation.
Police said the victim has not been identified and investigations are ongoing to determine his identity.
Detectives are also releasing details about the woman’s identity in the hope that someone will recognize her.
Slim build and tanned skin. He is believed to be 6 feet tall and in his mid to late teens, with green eyes and brown hair that is darker at the roots and blonder at the ends.
In addition, fixed metal braces were placed on his upper and lower teeth.
Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Marc Bowes said: “This is an extremely complex investigation in which a young woman has sadly lost her life.
“We are treating his death as murder and have arrested four people in connection with it.
“Despite extensive investigations we have conducted throughout today, we have not yet been able to confirm his identity.
“We hope that by revealing these details someone will recognize who he is and come forward.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of this morning or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the vicinity.”
