Mystery of missing UFO-linked Air Force general deepens as new photo reveals final moments before vanishing

A new photo of the missing Air Force general allegedly linked to UFO secrets has revealed an even bigger mystery about the final hours before he disappeared.

The photo was taken of retired Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland leaving a local sporting goods store in New Mexico with a mysterious package on Feb. 27, just one day before leaving his home in Albuquerque.

The new lead was released by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office following a Freedom of Information Act request from Los Angeles Magazine reporter Lauren Conlin.

McCasland was seen wearing sunglasses throughout the day, appearing alert and calm, leaving the REI with a large white shipping bag and another small item tucked under his left arm.

Although such soft and malleable bags are often used for mailing clothes, it is unknown what is inside the mysterious package.

According to McCasland’s wife, Susan Wilkerson, the Air Force veteran left his phone behind: purseHe found the wearable devices and prescription glasses while leaving his home around 11:00 local time.

McCasland had also changed clothes, leaving his normal clothes behind and taking only a pair of boots and his .38-caliber pistol.

The general’s disappearance became a matter of national controversy after it was revealed that he allegedly possessed both US nuclear and UFO-related secrets and that his career linked him to many other scientists and nuclear workers who had died or disappeared.

New surveillance footage shows retired Air Force general William Neil McCasland a day before he disappeared without a trace on Feb. 27.

In a post describing the newly obtained photo on

‘McCasland doesn’t appear to be carrying a traditional REI shopping bag. But REI allows customers to order online and pick them up in store, leaving open the possibility that what he was carrying may have been taken back during that visit rather than purchased.’ announced on friday.

In May, chilling body camera and 911 recordings appeared to show that the general was in possession of a set of clothes his wife didn’t know about when he disappeared.

Wilkerson was heard telling a 911 dispatcher in February: ‘He forgot his phone, I don’t know what he changed his clothes into. I think he’s on foot.’

These recently released recordings also appeared to refute Wilkerson’s claims on social media that her husband did not have any current confidential information.

Police were seen speaking on the phone with an unidentified female witness who claimed that she and members of the US Space Force had dinner with McCasland the night before he disappeared.

The anonymous caller claimed to be working with McCasland, who is still a member of the Kirtland Partnership, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve and expand Kirtland Air Force Base, a major military research facility and nuclear weapons laboratory in New Mexico.

The retired general reportedly met the group at a restaurant in Albuquerque around 6 p.m. local time, possibly minutes or hours after the photo at REI was taken.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said 68-year-old William Neil McCasland was last seen around 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, near Quail Run Court NE in Albuquerque.

‘The man was head of the Air Force Research Laboratory up to the point where his names appeared in the UFO documents that were finalized for release,’ the witness said. ‘He’s at that depth, so he has a very high security clearance.’

McCasland’s new photo shows that the general, known as an avid hiker, was healthy and active at the time of his disappearance.

However, the woman who allegedly met with McCasland said that something went wrong in her meeting with the Space Force and that the retired general did not act like himself that night.

‘I was shocked when I saw the warning this morning because what I noticed on Thursday evening [February 26] It was because he wasn’t his usual self. ‘He was a bit aloof and quiet and you know that happens to people.’

According to Wilkerson’s statement to police, McCasland had been prescribed a new medication hours before he disappeared; This medication was supposed to combat several symptoms that the couple allegedly feared were signs of cognitive decline.

McCasland was reportedly seeing doctors for his physical and mental problems, including brain fog and sleep problems.

Before police arrived at the home, Wilkerson told 911 dispatchers that he feared the veteran’s brain was “deteriorating.”

Despite his wife’s claims of potential mental decline, government officials said McCasland was still considered a key witness in ongoing efforts to declassify decades-old secrets about UFOs and extraterrestrials.

In early May, Air Force veteran and UFO whistleblower David Grusch named McCasland as one of the officers responsible for secret programs specifically related to the recovery and reverse engineering of non-human vehicles.

Grusch claimed that the general was uncooperative with recent efforts by lawmakers who wanted to interview him because of his knowledge of suspected American contact with aliens.

Meanwhile, intelligence experts specifically noted that McCasland’s disappearance is a significant concern linked to allegations of foreign espionage.

Former FBI Deputy Director Chris Swecker told the Daily Mail that there was enough evidence to suspect foul play in many disappearances and deaths, particularly among people linked to nuclear research and rocket technology.

Swecker said: ‘I think there is enough of a pattern, even if it is a small group, that there is a smaller group of missing people that warrants investigation by the FBI, the leading agency in counter-espionage and counter-intelligence. I’ll be looking for that unless we show something that points in another direction.’
