Neidhart described all the trials and tribulations he faced in his life in his autobiography, “The Last Hart Beating: From the Dungeon to WWE.” Neidhart takes the reader on a journey from how he got his start in professional wrestling to all the tragic moments his family experienced, including the tragic deaths of his father and uncle.
He told Fox News Digital that writing the book was a way for him to get out of his comfort zone and challenge it on a different level.
“The great thing about writing the book was taking on new goals, new challenges, new things,” he explained. “Writing a book is something I’ve always wanted to do, but I was also afraid to do it. Last year I was trying to overcome challenges that really scared me. I was doing things like: I was doing things that didn’t scare me that much, I was just doing things that were outside my comfort zone, I was stepping into situations that weren’t easy, like taking on a new character or working on new projects.”
“Writing a book was something I always wanted to do, but I kept putting it off because if I write a book, I just want it to be perfect. When you want to grow, the best thing you can do is just start.”
Neidhart details all the ups and downs she’s experienced in the industry.
He said the main takeaway he wanted was for the reader to feel like they were reading a story rather than just another autobiography.

“Wrestling is like the backdrop to my story, but the book is more just about the matches I had or how I got into it,” he said. “People reading this can’t wait to get to the next chapter because it’s a story. They can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in the story, and it’s a story people don’t know.”
On one occasion, Neidhart writes, he remembers the feeling of being “the last one left” of his family in the professional wrestling business.
The pressure was certainly present throughout Neidhart’s career.
“I think it comes down to loving what I do,” he told Fox News Digital. “It’s hard to believe I’ve been in WWE for almost two decades, but I truly love what I do. Just like anything, there will be things you love, there will be things that are difficult, and there will be things that are challenging, but there is no greater feeling than walking through the curtain doing something you love and feeling fulfilled about it.”
“I think the biggest thing about my family is that my parents have done a lot in the industry, but at the end of the day we all had the chance to go through the industry and really live our dreams, which was amazing.”
“The Last Hart Beatdown: From the Dungeon to WWE” will air Tuesday.
He hoped that his fans could somehow “heal” by reading the book and learning about his experiences.

“If the message of my book is anything, if anyone takes something away from the book, I hope it helps them heal in some way,” he said. “You can read my book and not know anything about wrestling and you will totally understand it.
“And that’s a big thing for me – I wanted to write a book that would be easy to read and that you could love wrestling, hate wrestling, know nothing about wrestling and completely understand the book because it’s about people, it’s about relationships, and I think it’s going to heal a lot of people.”
