Giant Eagle employee fired, police investigating alleged incident
There are still many questions surrounding disturbing allegations made against a former Giant Eagle employee regarding an incident that reportedly occurred at the store on Rodi Road.
Penn Hills police say they are actively investigating an incident that allegedly occurred three weeks ago, on Sept. 17.
Giant Eagle told us on Wednesday that the team member in question had been terminated. A spokesperson gave a statement to Channel 11:
“We are aware of an alleged incident at our Rodi Road Giant Eagle and are working with local authorities as they investigate the matter.”
Shoppers were upset to hear of the accusations and hoped it was an isolated incident.
“You come to a grocery store to pick up your groceries and be safe to go home, and you don’t expect to be violated in any way,” Shaheed Baskin said. “People are slipping through the cracks, so I can’t blame the Giant Eagle at all.”
“You see this happening in other places, but, you know, never in your backyard,” Fran Coglio said.
Channel 11 has reached out to the District Attorney’s Office to see if charges have been filed.
