Neighbour ‘found Jake Hall dead with shard of glass in his neck’ outside Majorca villa after Towie star ‘ran through patio door thinking it was open’

The heroic neighbor who rushed to save Jake Hall when he heard glass breaking at the TOWIE star’s Majorca Airbnb has broken his silence for the first time since the tragedy.

Rafel lives directly across the street from the property where the fashion designer-turned-television star rents a house for the summer in the sleepy village of Santa Margalida.

Jake, 35, had invited a few friends – two men and three women – to the villa for a small after-party after spending a night playing music until dawn in Palma on Tuesday night.

At around 6.30am a neighbor walked past the property and there were no problems, the party was going on and the lights were on.

But at 7.15am there was a loud crash and neighbors heard glass hitting the floor.

Rafel, a local construction worker, was on his way to work when he heard cries for help from a group of young women in their twenties standing on the street.

She ran across the road to find Jake lying shirtless on the porch floor, with cuts all over his body and a large shard of glass around his neck.

Rafel ran to see if he could perform CPR on Jake, but the father of one was unfortunately already dead and his heart was no longer beating.

While Rafel was trying to save the man, Spanish-speaking women from the party were calling emergency services and an ambulance and the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene at 7.30am.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Rafel said: ‘I am no hero. I would try to save anyone in this situation, and I’d like to think others would too.

‘We heard a loud explosion and the sound of glass breaking. I didn’t hear any screams. I was leaving for work, so I crossed the road and ran through the door. Then I could see a body lying on the porch surrounded by a pool of blood.

‘His friends were shouting ‘help’ on the street and he said his friends had an accident.

‘He was badly cut all over his body, especially his arms. He was topless, but someone had put a t-shirt over his body. There were also glass shards on his neck and chest. He had a big red mark on his head.

‘He appeared to have walked through the glass patio door thinking it was open but it was actually closed. I tried to see if there was anything I could do to save him, but unfortunately there were no signs of life. ‘He wasn’t breathing and I couldn’t feel his pulse.’

As soon as emergency services arrived, Rafel left the Airbnb to move his car so the ambulance could park directly outside the property.

Emergency services later pronounced Jake dead at the scene and his body remained outside the property until 1pm that day.

Legal sources told the Daily Mail the incident was being treated as an accident.

A later autopsy will confirm whether the disaster was caused by alcohol and possible drug abuse, as many speculated.

Rafel added: ‘When I ran into the house I was focusing solely on the injured man, but I did not notice any alcohol bottles or drugs bottles strewn around the property.

‘The well-dressed teenagers looked nervous and upset about their friends, but they did not appear to be drug addicts.

‘When I came back for a coffee break later all the young people who had been partying with him were sitting on the roadside while the Guardia Civil were standing nearby.

‘Two of the young women who came to me were thanking me in Spanish. The group appeared to speak mostly Spanish.

‘It’s normally a very quiet village and there aren’t usually any Brits here. It’s definitely not a party city. It’s so safe that we all leave our cars unlocked at night.’

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the quiet street in the north of the Spanish island was flooded with police officers after Jake was found dead in a pool of his own blood.

Authorities in Majorca said there was currently no evidence of a crime, while a legal source said the death was being treated as an ‘accidental death’.

Authorities are now awaiting the results of an autopsy performed in Palma on Friday. The results will then be sent to the investigating judge; however these will not be published as is normal in Spain.

The death of the reality TV star and model is being treated as accidental, the Guardia Civil confirmed last night.

A Civil Guard spokesman said: ‘There is nothing at this stage to suggest this is the result of a crime.’

It is understood that police officers questioned many people, three men and three women, who were in the house at the time of the death. Their nationalities have not been confirmed yet.

It is understood an initial police report has been sent to an investigating judge in the nearby town of Inca and will receive autopsy results as they become available.

An autopsy will provide some answers and further tissue sample testing will then be sent to a specialist laboratory on the Spanish mainland.

The results will confirm whether Jake was addicted to drink and drugs when the accident occurred.

Hours before he died, Mr Hall shared a video showing himself dancing, painting and enjoying the local scenery.

Dedicated to the Rolling Stones’ classic Beast of Burden, the post was captioned: ‘Life is bullshit sometimes but I’ll try to remember the good things – ️ glancing at things – just making art – in many forms.’

Jake, who has ADHD and dyslexia, has spoken openly about his mental health over the years; He referred to Majorca as the ‘island of healing’ and thanked his eight-year-old daughter River for saving him.

“I was at a very low point,” he said a year ago. ‘I had lost something I loved and nurtured in my bedroom. I went through a lot of turmoil. Honestly, River is the reason I’m here today. ‘He’s amazing and we have an incredible relationship.’

Speaking to the Daily Mail, grieving friend David said Jake was at his most ‘peaceful’ and happiest when he was with his daughter.

He said: ‘What I really admired most was his relationship with his daughter. You can see he’s her whole world.

‘When I saw them together, that was the moment I saw that he was truly at peace. His daughter put him down and calmed him down.

‘He was a wonderful father. He was a very loving person and was always very friendly with everyone. ‘He was always in a good mood.’

David befriended model-turned-fashion designer Jake almost a decade ago when he began spending all his summers on the Spanish island.

Jake and his brother Sonny had been visiting Majorca since their teenage years; His parents owned property in the area, and the television star described the country as his ‘home’.

According to his friend, Jake only returned to the island a month ago and his first sculpture was exhibited at the NU Mallorca beach club.

David added: ‘He would come here every summer and travel elsewhere in the winter. He rented the villa to use as an art studio, using his creativity to paint and create designs.

‘He was hoping to host some arts events there and was also looking for a place to perform his music in Palma, so I was helping him out.

‘He only arrived a few weeks ago, maybe a month ago, and was getting the house ready for the summer. ‘This was a space where he felt comfortable creating, and he only invited people he was very close to to see or sell his art.’

Jack Fincham, another friend of Jake’s who previously worked with him, also paid tribute to the star, adding that he was a “perfect father”.

The actor and former Love Island star told the Daily Mail: ‘He was a good friend of mine and we were doing a clothing collection together at one point. But I haven’t seen him in years.

‘He was a wonderful person and an inspiration. He did whatever he set his mind to. We worked together, we partied together, and she even designed the clothes for the premiere of my first movie.

‘Jake was a pleasure to have around. He is a very handsome and very funny man. He was a great father, you could see how well he got along with his daughter.

‘He was someone I aspired to be like and I would watch him thinking that was success.’
