Netflix issue shock statement as they ‘split’ with Meghan Markle | Royal | News

In a statement released today, Netflix said they were proud to play a role in “bringing Meghan’s vision to life.” They said: “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand and we’re delighted to have played a part in bringing this vision to life.
“As always intended, Meghan will continue to grow and independently take the brand to the next level, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to homes around the world.”
According to insiders, Meghan was relieved to have “acted alone” as she voiced fears that she was being “pulled back” by a “cautious” Netflix.
Despite the “split”, Meghan is said to be on “good terms” with Netflix boss Ted Sarandos. Sun reported.
A source said: “Meghan remains on good terms with the Netflix team and is close friends with Ted (Sarandos) so she didn’t want to upset him but she’s delighted to have full control of the company.
“Given the recent successes, it’s a good time for Meghan to take full control. Netflix has been a good partner but has wanted to go global with the brand for a while but has been blocked by the more cautious Netflix team.”
A spokesperson for Meghan said: “We are as grateful as ever for Netflix’s partnership with the launch and our first year.
“We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth and, as always, we are now ready to stand on our own feet. We have an exciting year ahead and we can’t wait to share more.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex still have a “first look deal” with Netflix, although the streaming service no longer has a partnership with As Ever.
