New emblem of Rajasthan Assembly reflects constitutional values, cultural identity

The newly designed emblem of the Rajasthan Assembly, reflecting the constitutional values and cultural identity of the desert state, was unveiled in Jaipur on Monday, May 18, 2026, with a call to strengthen the tradition of representative government. Governor Haribhau Bagade unveiled the emblem at a ceremony held at the Parliament building.
The launch of the emblem marked the completion of 75 years of establishment of the State Assembly. Mr. Bagade also announced new names like ‘Kartavya Dwar’, ‘Sankalp Dwar’ and ‘Shaurya Dwar’ for the 13 gates of the Assembly building on the occasion.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Bagade said the Khejri State tree and the grand Assembly building incorporated in the emblem symbolize the resilience of the people of the State who have braved the harsh geographical conditions of the desert region “with the spirit of courage and festivity”.
“While Khejri highlights the tree-centric culture of Rajasthan and the sacrifices made for the sacred tree, the inclusion of the camel and the Great Indian Bustard in the emblem serves as a symbol of the State’s culture of harmony,” Mr. Bagade said.
The Governor said that although the State Assembly was formally established in 1952, five years after Independence, its establishment began in 1913 when Ganga Singh, the former ruler of Bikaner, laid the foundation of the Representative Assembly as the first legislature of Rajputana.
Speaker Vasudev Devnani said the State Assembly played a historic role in the transition from the princely states of Rajputana to the formation of modern Rajasthan. “The Assembly is a witness to the glorious history of adherence to democracy, public trust and constitutional norms,” Mr. Devnani said.
Describing the naming of various doors of the parliament building as a “value-oriented decision”, Devnani said that the new names will be symbols of the basic ideals of democracy. “Every individual who enters these doors will feel that they have stepped not just into a building, but into a sacred sanctuary of democratic values,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Prem Chand Bairwa and his Cabinet colleagues, Opposition Leader Tika Ram Jully, MPs from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Opposition Congress and Parliamentary Secretary Bharat Bhushan Sharma were present at the ceremony.
