New photograph of Queen Camilla released to make exciting announcement | Royal | News

A brand new photo was published today on the occasion of Queen Camilla’s 79th birthday. The photo was taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson at the State Drawing Room at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland last month. Wearing a gorgeous navy blue dress, the Queen wore the outfit to Queen Elizabeth II at the Birmingham Spring Fair in February 1977. She adorned it with a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch, which was presented to Elizabeth.

The new photo has been released to coincide with the exciting announcement and the Queen’s renewed commitment to supporting children’s literacy. It has been announced that every Year 6 and Year 6 child in the UK will be gifted a special edition of the bestselling book Impossible Creatures by award-winning author Katherine Rundell this Christmas.

The generous program will be delivered in partnership with the National Literacy Foundation, of which Her Majesty is Patron. Reading and the importance of literature have long been one of the Queen’s main philanthropic focuses.

Camilla has been an avid reader her whole life and even founded Queen’s Reading Room in January 2021, which recommends new reads every month. The initiative offers exclusive content and is, in Queen Camilla’s own words, “a resource, reassurance and refuge for all book lovers.”

He has previously said: “If you learn to read, no matter how difficult your life is at the time, you can grab a book and run away. You can laugh, you can cry, it takes you out of the real world and gives you a different dimension to life.”

The new update comes as Queen Camilla celebrates her 79th birthday today. Unaware of the future that lay ahead, Camilla Rosemary Shand was born in London on July 17, 1947, to Major Bruce and Rosalind Shand.

Before Queen Camilla married King Charles, she was married to Andrew Parker Bowles and had two children with him, Tom and Laura.

As a modern wife, Camilla regularly tackles issues the Royal Family may have previously been unable to accommodate, including domestic violence.
