New Year’s Day Leeds ‘murder’ as man dies in tower block ‘attack’ | UK | News

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died outside an apartment block. The alleged assault took place in Leeds on January 1.
Police were called at 8.14am after reports of suspicious circumstances outside Gargrave Court in Burmantofts. A man allegedly attacked another man lying on the ground.
The person, who was found seriously injured by police teams, was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
A 51-year-old man was arrested and detained on suspicion of murder. Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes, who investigated the incident, said: “An incident of this nature would understandably cause concern in the local community and an investigation is ongoing to establish how the deceased lost his life.
“Neighborhood officers are patrolling the area to reassure residents and I would urge people to speak to them if they have any concerns.”
The Homicide and Major Investigation Team are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in or around Gargrave Court at the specified times.
