Nims To Launch 3 Specialised Urology Clinics From Jan. 1

Hyderabad: Patients seeking treatment for urological cancers, kidney transplants and pediatric urology problems will have dedicated clinics at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) from January 1.

Nims will open three subspecialty clinics in the urology and kidney transplant department – uro-oncology, kidney transplant and pediatric urology – to handle complex cases that currently span general outpatient services.

Nims director Nagari Beerappa said the clinics aim to make specialized care accessible to patients. “Advanced treatments for urological cancers, kidney transplants and pediatric urology problems will be provided through these clinics, helping people receive focused and quality care,” he said.

The clinics will operate under the urology department headed by Rahul Devar. It will be held every Friday between 10.00-13.00 in the urology department on the sixth floor of the specialty block.

Hospital officials said this will help patients who require repeated consultations and long-term follow-up, especially those undergoing cancer treatment or kidney transplantation. The pediatric urology clinic is expected to help families avoid multiple referrals by providing specialized care for children with urinary tract problems and related conditions. Aggregating these services into clearly defined clinics will also help doctors better manage patient loads and reduce wait times for those needing specialized attention, officials said.
