Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., called those concerned about whether she married her brother “sick” after Fox News Digital approached the far-left lawmaker about border czar Tom Homan, signaling that federal authorities have begun reviewing records on the matter.

Homan said last week that records and files related to Omar’s potential immigration fraud were pulled and reviewed after President Donald Trump revived the years-old scandal amid ongoing controversy over the Somalia Medicaid fraud scandal that occurred in Omar’s home state of Minnesota.

While Homan suggested fraud was likely committed, he also signaled that the statute of limitations for the crime could be problematic when it comes to prosecuting Omar for any possible violations.

“Any answer to what [Homan] says? What about the people?” Fox News Digital asked Omar as she walked the halls of Congress.

“I can’t get answers because I don’t know what they’re going to investigate,” Omar said.

“Why do you think they keep bringing this up?” Omar was then asked before getting into the elevator and disappearing.

“Because they’re sick!” he shouted.

But if allegations that Omar married her brother to enter the United States were true, she would have broken many laws, according to a senior Republican in the Senate.

“If this is true, Omar would face criminal liability under three different laws,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

According to reports, Omar and Elmi separated in 2011 and did not legally divorce until 2017. Omar married political consultant Tim Mynett in 2020.

Cruz said that in addition to committing marriage fraud, Omar may also be violating the state of Minnesota’s incest law; It is a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison in this state.
