No Compromise On Quality Of Development Works: Tummala

KHAMMAM: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Monday directed officials to ensure stringent quality standards in development works through regular inspection and monitoring.

The minister, who inspected the underground drainage works in the city of Khammam, stated that the quality of projects carried out with public funds should not be compromised and emphasized that the works should provide long-term benefits to the public.

He said the state government had released hundreds of billions of rupees for infrastructure development despite financial constraints to improve public amenities.

Tummala said elected representatives should also regularly monitor development work to ensure it is completed to required standards.

Stating that many infrastructure projects are ongoing in the city of Khammam, he said that road expansion and other development works will further accelerate the growth of the city.

Emphasizing the importance of sanitation, the minister said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure a clean environment. He observed that cleanliness not only improves public health but also reduces the financial burden of medical expenses on families.

Earlier, Tummala had laid the foundation stone for the construction of cement concrete roads and drains to be taken up under the Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) at a cost of Rs 61.50 lakh.
