On Friday, May 22, 2026, the Bengaluru police warned against gathering for a “peaceful human chain” near the Town Hall in the heart of the city after a satirical invitation poster started doing the rounds on social media under the title “Cockroach Janta Party Karnataka”.

In the alleged poster, the organization invited people to join a peaceful human chain near City Hall on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The poster read: “All cockroaches and Cockroach Janata Party fans, join us to show our strength and send a message to the self-deceived administration.”

It also bore the slogan: “It’s time to show power in the streets, not just on the internet.”

Soon after, the Bengaluru City Police issued a statement saying that no one had taken permission or sought permission from the Greater Bengaluru Authority to organize such a demonstration.

Police said such a demonstration could not take place in the streets because it would violate the Supreme Court’s ruling that protests should only take place in Freedom Park.

“The public is advised not to forward or share the message in question, knowingly or unknowingly, via social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram. Xetc. and not congregating near City Hall,” BCP stated.

The alleged poster also featured an image showing cockroaches walking towards Vidhana Soudha with posters saying “Namma Hakku” on them.

“Come cockroaches, let’s send a message. There is no leader here, we are our own leaders. There is no organization here, citizens joining hands is an organization in itself,” it was said.

CJP is a satirical political movement founded on May 16 by Abhijeet Dipke, former political strategist of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The platform was set up in response to CJI Surya Kant’s comment describing young unemployed Indians as “cockroaches”. Later, the CJI issued a statement saying that the media had “misquoted” him.
