Nod for NextGen Life Sciences Policy

Hyderabad: The Cabinet on Saturday approved the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026-30 with an aim to make Telangana one of the top five life sciences hubs in the world by 2030. The policy was officially announced at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos in January by Revanth Reddy.
The government has set a target of attracting investments worth $25 billion and creating five lakh jobs in the next five years through the policy. Telangana will be developed as a major global destination for investments in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical innovation sectors, the cabinet said.
The policy aims to create significant opportunities for young people in the research, manufacturing, digital health and global innovation sectors. While the government has largely focused on manufacturing so far, the new policy will place greater emphasis on innovation-led growth.
As part of policy reforms, the government decided to recognize research and development (R&D) units as industries, enabling them to benefit from incentives and infrastructure support. The policy is also expected to help attract global talent hubs and global innovation hubs to Telangana.
