Zohran Mamdani got a taste of what it’s like to be a champion on Sunday.

The mayor of New York paraded an NBA champion through New York less than 24 hours after his hometown Knicks won their first NBA championship since 1973.

After flying back to the Big Apple from San Antonio overnight, Jose Alvarado, also from New York, attended a local Puerto Rican Day Parade and the mayor joined him in the fun.

Alvarado spent most of his time shirtless on floats and at parties, which was completely understandable after a championship.

A video from the parade showed Alvarado rapping Jadakiss’ verses from Ja Rule’s 2004 hit “New York.” Mamdani also sang some lyrics from the old song, which has been revived as the Knicks anthem.

Alvarado’s Knicks teammate Jordan Clarkson was also seen at the float.
