ACB Raids Sub-Registrar Staff Residences in Vizag, Vizianagaram

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday conducted comprehensive raids on 14 residences of Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) personnel across the state, following earlier investigations that revealed corruption in registrar offices.
In Visakhapatnam, four premises, including those of Joint Sub-Registrar S. Mohan Rao at Jagadamba Center SRO, were searched resulting in the seizure of Rs 10,000 in unaccounted cash. One case was recorded on December 22. Searches were also carried out in the premises of Assistant Assistant Pandaranki Sudharani and office subordinate B. Anand Kumar at Pendurthi SRO.
In Vizianagaram district, six premises belonging to Bhogapuram SRO personnel were raided after $34,280 in cash was seized during surprise checks in November. Pandilapalli Ramakrishna, Joint Sub-Registrar and five other staff were targeted in the searches.
ASR cops recovered 51 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 5.45 lakh to their owners
Visakhapatnam: Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district police on Tuesday organized a ‘mobile recovery mela’ and returned 51 lost or stolen mobile phones worth around Rs 5.45 lakh to their owners.
Police seized mobile phones not only in ASR district but also in neighboring districts like East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada and Khammam.
Rescue operations went beyond state borders, with calls received from Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Telangana.
Since January 1, 2025, ASR police have recovered a total of 180 lost or stolen mobile phones with a total value of around Rs 27 lakh.
3 young people lost their lives in a bicycle accident
Kakinada: Three youths, Eleti Anjibabu (23), Eleti Raju (19) and Kolla Veera Venkata Satyanarayana (19) from Polamuru village of Penumantra mandal in West Godavari district, lost their lives in a bicycle accident that took place in Polamuru village late on Monday night. Penumantra police said that the youths went to a church in Brahmaa Cheruvu to celebrate Half Half Christmas. On their way to their village in Polamuru after attending the celebrations, the trio crashed into the guardrail wall in the village on their bicycle and were seriously injured. They were rushed to the government hospital in Tanuku where they were pronounced dead. Penumantra police registered a case.
