The ‘hybrid containment model’ proposed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has emerged as the central point of contention in Parliament, triggering a sharp political exchange between the BJP and the Congress even as the idea gains traction among many southern states.
The model put forward by Mr. Revanth Reddy aims to balance population-based representation with economic performance indicators such as Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) as one of the limiting parameters. The proposal entered the national discourse amid concerns about the potential loss of parliamentary representation, particularly in southern states.
