Ring star Daveigh Chase’s cause of death was revealed two weeks after he died at the age of 35.
Chase died in the hospital on June 16 from acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), the most advanced stage of HIV infection, according to the LA County Medical Examiner.
Chronic polysubstance use (repeated use of more than one drug over a short period of time) was also listed as a significant condition that contributed to his death.
The manner of death is listed as natural.
The actress’ boyfriend confirmed her shocking death earlier this month, revealing a painful health struggle that included meningitis, blood infection and sepsis.
Chase was first admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles in early June.
Her partner, Roy Hernandez, had been asking for help financing her care through multiple GoFundMe campaigns in the weeks before her death.

He later appeared in many film and television projects such as Lilo & Stitch, Donnie Darko, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, ER and Big Love.
After 2013, she slowly retreated from the public eye, with her last social media activity in 2017 and her last red carpet appearance at the Vogue dinner in April 2013.
He reportedly had several troubles with the law in the following years, including a 2017 arrest in Los Angeles in connection with joyriding in a stolen vehicle.
He describes a violent fight with his partner, his family, and their desperate struggle to get off the streets.
In a tragic premonition of his own death, he was interrogated in 2017 after dropping an unconscious man outside a hospital and driving away. He later died of a drug overdose.
Chase’s partner, Hernandez, said the couple was homeless in the years before his death.
At one fundraiser, his partner pleaded: ‘My girlfriend Daveigh Chase has always been a light in my life… But behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of challenges.’
‘After a difficult childhood and a painful separation from his family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown Los Angeles. When we met, I promised to protect him and give him the love and comfort he deserved.

‘Together we found moments of happiness and hope.’
He continued: ‘Everything has changed recently. Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections.
‘His condition became critical and doctors told me he might not have much time left. All he wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe and be happy.
‘Now more than ever I want to give him a sense of home and peace in his final days.
‘I understand we all go through things, but if you can help I’d really appreciate everything.’
Chase reportedly remained out of touch for a long period before his death at the age of 35, leading to concerns from his manager John Ryan and his half-sister Gaia Brown, who had been trying to track him down for several years.
Daveigh became a promising child actor in the early 2000s. Her big break came in 2002, when she was only 11 years old, voicing Lilo in Disney’s animated film Lilo & Stitch.
Ryan told the California Post that their search eventually led them to the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles where he believed Chase might have been staying.
He added that he had managed to talk to him on the phone before and arranged to meet in person.
Ryan said the initial plan was to support Chase’s recovery, and arrangements were being explored for possible rehabilitation support in Costa Rica once he was well enough to travel.
However, when they arrived, the situation changed and his location could not be determined, he said.
‘We were very close to finding him,’ he said. ‘Daveigh was the sweetest, brightest light in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. ‘His legacy and work will live on forever.’
