Official to be suspended over delay in opening gym in Ward 62

Chennai District 62 councilor R. Jagadeesan said at the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Council meeting on Friday that the EmpowHer gym for women in his district has not been opened for public use for several months even after the completion of the building.

When Gulf Cooperation Council Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran asked for more details about the delay, Standing Committee (Works) Chairman N. Chitrarasu said that the ward councilor had been making this request for the last three years but this request had not been fulfilled.

Responding to this, the Corporation Commissioner said that due to a long delay, the assistant engineer concerned would be suspended and the gym would open on Friday.
