Two pensioners killed after car crashes into care home during police chase

Northumbria police said two women died after hitting a BMW of a BMW chased by the police.

The Blue BMW was followed by civil servants who went to the east of A1231 in Sunderland when they collided with Highclifffe Care Home at the Whitchhurch Road on WiterWack at around 9.40 o’clock.

The force said that a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 80s died on Thursday. An investigation will discuss whether the collision contributes to the deaths.

The vehicle was reported to be stolen from the Newcastle Fenham zone around 9.20 on Wednesday and the accident caused structural damage.

Both of them were 21 years old, and two men who were previously arrested about the incident were further arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both were initially arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and one was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. They stay in custody.

The other eight residual, life -threatening injuries were taken to hospital with injuries and all of them were discharged, except one.
