One Nation polling sparks Anthony Albanese statement on immigration; Iran ceases missile attack on Israel; Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-un to meet in North Korea
Another Liberal Party representative has joined calls for a preference deal with One Nation after the right-wing party overtook the ruling Labor Party as the most popular party in Australia, according to a recent poll.
Speaking to Sky News, Victorian senator Sarah Henderson rejected the suggestion that One Nation’s popularity reflected anger at the Coalition rather than the government.
Like Opposition Leader Angus Taylor, Henderson blamed Labour’s budget, broken promises and that the Coalition was merely collateral damage.
“It’s a sign that Australians are fed up and, wow, are they mad at Victoria,” Henderson said of his home state. “This is a state mired in crime, corruption and economic incompetence.
“I believe we should have a choice agreement with One Nation, and we should not apologize for that. We are united on one mission, and that is to get rid of the worst government we have ever seen in this country.”
