Operation P-Hunt: 18 cases booked, two arrested in Ernakulam

Police in the district registered 18 cases and arrested two persons as part of the statewide Operation P-Hunt, which targets those involved in child pornography.

While a man from West Bengal was arrested by Ernakulam Town South police, an Assam native was nabbed by Perumbavoor police. Ten cases were registered by Ernakulam Rural police, while eight cases were registered within Kochi city limits on Sunday. The accused were arrested under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

While rural police raided 19 places as part of the march, city police searched 14 places. During the raids, 11 devices, including mobile phones, were seized in rural areas and 10 in the city.

The ongoing work, carried out in coordination with the Center for Combating Child Sexual Exploitation (CCSE) and Cyberdome, aims to track down those who view, download, record or share child pornography material through electronic media.
