Trump’s National Guard Mistake
A brief history of the National Guard in Washington.
-
I am announcing a historic action saying “Trump must go now.” Save our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, mayhem, misery, and worse. “D.C.’s shadow senator is voicing concerns about what this could mean for taxpayers.” We will get our capital back. We take it back. “The presence of the National Guard in the district continues.” “The question is necessarily what they do.” “They just stand around and chat with each other.” “Troops were instructed to cite and prepare for a long-term, permanent presence.” “They look bored to me.” We will make this place safe. The number of crimes has decreased significantly. “DC leaders claim there is no crisis, indicating crime rates are currently at a 30-year low.” “The neighborhoods with the highest crime rates in Southeast and Northeast D.C. are mostly without soldiers,” “We haven’t seen any of that here in Southeast D.C.,” “Bringing in the National Guard is not the solution.” “They still patrol areas like Metro stations and the National Mall.” “These are the National Guard standing around the tourist attractions.” “I saw them stop to take photos under the Washington Monument.” “It seems more like a show for those who visit.” “They’re really here for the show. There’s a kind of sick humor around the whole thing.” We achieved incredible results. It’s like a different place. “DC National Guard clearing parks.” “I pick up garbage and pull weeds.” “We collected more than 500 bags of garbage and got rid of three truckloads of factory waste. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.” The results are out: “And morale is plummeting.” “And most people I talk to don’t really want to be here.” We will stay here for a while. We want to make this absolutely perfect. “The soldiers have been ordered to stay at least until next summer.” “I could stay in DC indefinitely.” “Okay. What do we actually do? What do we, as taxpayers, pay for?” “The cost of having these National Guards here is a little over a million dollars a day.” “We have some breaking news we want to get, and it’s coming to us from our nation’s capital. A U.S. federal judge has ruled that the deployment of the National Guard to Washington, D.C. is illegal.”
