Gen Z Protests in Nepal

This development comes in the heel of the last protests in Nepal, where the violent demonstrations led by Gen Z exploded in Kathmandu on September 8 and the government’s law on 26 major social media platforms, and rapidly spread to cities such as Pokhara, Butwal and Birgunj. It has created widespread anger among young people acting by mourning, corruption, favoritism and abuse of power by reference to tax and cyber security concerns.

The protests began after the Nepal Government banned 26 popular social media platforms and mainly created anger among young people. This ban was the main trigger of the demonstrations. However, the disappointment emphasized by the social media tasks about the privileged lifestyles of politicians known as the “Nepo Babies” trend had already increased due to corruption, favoritism and inequality.

The Nepal Ministry of Health and Population said that the protests led by youth have been demanding 51 lives so far, including 30 people who died of armed wounds, and that the rest of them succumbed to burns, injuries and related complications.
