Mexico sees no reason for US to impose sanctions on airlines
MexICO CITY (Reuters) -Meksikan President Claudia Sheinbaum said that on Monday, the US government has not yet officially reported the possible measures against the airline sector, indicating that the neighboring country has not seen any reason to initiate such sanctions.
Comments on Saturday, the US Department of Transport, said that Mexico will take action in response to the decision to cut flight nests and forcing cargo carriers to change operations in Mexico City and affected US airlines.
“There is no reason for changes in Mexico’s airport system for changes in the capital’s airport system.” Sheinbaum said at a daily press conference. He said.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Saturday that if concerns about the decisions of the airport taken in 2022 and 2023, the department could reject new flight requests from Mexican carriers.
According to the statement, the department would propose to withdraw the antitröst immunity to Delta Air Lines for a joint attempt with Aeromexico.
