Paris in a mix of celebration and confrontation
BBC Paris correspondent James Waterhouse described the French capital as “euphoric” on Sunday on the Champs de Mars, where fans greeted Paris-St-Germain’s (PSG) players after their Champions League win.
But celebrations were marred on Saturday as thousands of police officers were deployed to prevent unrest, which disrupted public services and injured 219 people.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said eight people were in serious condition after clashes between football fans and police.
French authorities said 780 people were arrested in Paris following the clashes.
