Patriots Super Bowl champion Jordan Devey dies by suicide, family says

A Super Bowl champion has died by suicide, the former NFL player’s family confirmed Thursday.
Jordan Devey, who won the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX, died by suicide, the family announced in a GoFundMe campaign published this week.
The post said the suicide “forced his family to go through an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.”

The former offensive lineman was most recently coaching at Eagle High School in Idaho. The GoFundMe said Devey “was a valued member of the Eagle community and was known for his unwavering dedication to serving others.”
“He was a devoted husband to Linsey and a loving father to all four of his children. Jordan spent countless hours volunteering as a coach for his own children’s teams and at Eagle High School, where he was deeply loved by players who considered him a mentor, role model and friend. His commitment to uplifting those around him extended well beyond sports, faithfully serving in his church, offering support, counseling and friendship to anyone in need,” the GoFundMe read.

The date of Devey’s death is unknown, but his widow posted about their 15th wedding anniversary on Instagram earlier this week.
“We filled the walls of our home and our hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles and victories. We brought 4 beautiful children with your eyes, freckles and compassion into this world. You were our hero, our hearts hurt in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, ‘we will talk soon’ Linsey wrotephotos of himself at his bedside in the hospital and photos from someone else’s wedding.
Devey has not posted on Instagram since June 1.
Devey, who started his NFL career on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad after playing in Memphis, was picked up by the Patriots in 2014, playing in six games and winning the Super Bowl. He later played for the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills. He started 21 of 44 games.
